A Random Post

Even though it seems that a lot has been happening, I'm at a loss for what to write about. Ben continues to amuse and delight us on a daily basis. His laugh is the greatest sound! I tried to get it on video the other morning, but he immediately became distracted by the camera. He can be quite a ham... I wonder where he gets it??




I also include this photo of Jonathan and Ben after they both fell asleep during Ben's night time bottle. So cute!


Here's a random picture of Ben and me that I took with my computer. Just bored and having some fun... we were working on our "evil eye" stares.


Finally, Ben and I will be taking our first cross-country trip on Wednesday. We're stopping first at Coco and Papi's in New Mexico where we'll also get to see Amy, Joe, and Tommy!! Then we're off to Grammy, Grandpa, Mom-Mom, Amanda, Bonnie, and Greg in Georgia. An 8 day whirlwind trip. Wish us luck! And I'll definitely post about the trip, so stay tuned...

A Lefty?

Ben has started grabbing things--mostly toys and books we hold right up to his hands. I've noticed that he seems to favor his left hand, and I wonder if this could indicate he'll be a lefty. Jonathan and I righties, so it would make for an interesting argument about whether it's hereditary.

Ben has also begun sucking on his fist--mostly his left one--and it's pretty hilarious. Yesterday he kept shoving his hand so far in his mouth he'd almost choke... Here are a couple of photos:



I also took this video of him playing on his baby gym mat. Many of you have heard him shriek (usually over the phone, though some of you have had the pleasure in person!)... in the video you can *begin* to get a sense of how screechy he can be, though I'd say that this is pretty mellow compared to what he can be like. And I'll add that he shrieks both when he's happy and not, and often, it's hard to tell which he's feeling! Enjoy...

A Slimmer Ben

We use cloth diapers for Ben about 90% of the time. He sleeps in plastic/disposable diapers to help keep him drier and to minimize nighttime changes. Our cloth diapers are delivered Tuesday mornings. This week, we went through more diapers than usual and, as of last night, we're out! So Ben has been in disposables for a day now. While we're definitely proponents of cloth overall, there are some benefits to the plastic models--primarily (in my opinion, at least) the slimmer profile of the disposables. Why does this matter, you ask? Well, for a mommy who likes to dress her baby up like a doll... it means he can squeeze into some of the outfits that are just too tight when he wears cloth. Like his cute little baby cord jeans. Check him out!

Roll Over, The Real Deal

Ben has now rolled over a few times... most recently, tonight when he was doing his nightly "naked tummy time" on our bed. He seems to like being naked, and he's far more likely to tolerate tummy time that way, so we've surrendered to it. So tonight I was in the kitchen when Jonathan yelled out that Ben had just rolled over... I ran in with my camera and caught him in rolling mode. It took him so long, though, that I kept thinking he wasn't going to make it, thus the resulting video is in pieces and is missing a bit in the middle. Enjoy!

Ben at the Zoo!

Today Ben and I went to the Oakland Zoo with Gina, Ryan, Andrea, Diana, and Grayson. It was a blast! Ben took a great nap in his stroller, but also had a great time looking at the animals. I'm not sure how far he can see, but he was enjoying being out and about.
